Fn nothing funnier to a
armer than a city guy th
tries to farm. The best yo on
farm neighborhood is the latest
story anybody has to tell about
some citified fellow that don’t know
how to hitch up a horse or start
a tractor going.
Down in Oklahoma they tell
about a real smart town woman
that had a lot of dough and de-
they
cided she was going to do some
fancy poultry farming. She was
investigating’ around the neighbor-
hood where she expected to start
her farm. She was trying to get
a little information on the sly, too.
She asked a farmer how he could
tell when it was time to gather the
eggs, and how he knew where to
look for them. e
“Well,” says the farmer, “I reckon
that ain't so much You
hear that hen out there in the
weeds? She’s cackling. That means
she’s laid an egg out there, and my
daughter's starting out right now
to find it.”

ii.
“Huh!” says the town lady.
ess I'll have it arranged much
tter on my poultry farm. I could
mever unc lerstand such hen as
yours. © I'm going to have mine
crossed with parrot blood, so that
they will come in and tell me » when
and where they lay their eggs.”
