George R. Meek, editor-in-chief of the
Democratic Watchman, has been noti-
fisd by the Postoffice Department in
Washington that he has been appoint

Mr. Meek is the only son of the late
P. Gray Meek, for many yearf™ secre:
tary of the State Democratic Commit.
tee and who also served as a member
of both houses of the legislature. Meek
i* a graduate of Penn State College,
class of 1890, and has been connected
wit the Watchman in some capacity
ever since,
Mr. Meeks's contribution to Democ-
racy’s cause is well known throughout
Centre county and the state as well
It is doubtful whether another indi.
vidual in the county fought as brave
a fight for what in most Instances
seemed a hopeless cause. A turn has
come at last, and Mr, Meek may well
fee; he played a large part in the vie
tory. His appointment is a most de-
serving one. Congratulations,
