LOCAL AND PERSONAL.
Dr. H. H. Longwell is driving a new
Chevrolet car,
Henry Stoner is dangerously ill at his
home at State College.
Mrs, D. L. Kerr is spending a few
weeks visiting her niece, at Berwick,
Prof. C. R. Neff's condition has not
been very good for the past week or
more.
A Children’s Day service will be held
in the Lemont U, Ev, church, Sunday
evening.
Mr. Knorr, of Reading, is the guest of
his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. E. M. Huyett,
Mr, and Mrs. Robert Meyer, of Altoo-
na, visited the former's mother, Mrs. P.
H. Meyer, last Thurday.
S, P, Hennigh is excavating for the
erection of his new bungalow, west of
the H, G. Strohmeier home.
Friday night's rain was the first of
any consequence in several weeks and
meant much to the farmers.
Samuel Burris, who farms the Kauff-
man farm, near Zion, was a business
caller at this office on Tuesday.
Miss Isabel Rowe and her grammar
grade scholars enjoyed a picpic on top
of Nittany mountain, on Friday.

S. J. Rowe, who has been working be-
low the Mason-Dixon line for several
months, is at his home in Centre Hall.

H. G. Strohmeier returned home on
Tuesday from a trip to Cleveland, Ohio,

neral of the late James Shires, at Johns-
town, on Monday afternoon. The last
two named women are nieces of Mr.
Shires.
The Centre County Lutheran Sunday
School Conference will be held at Boals-
burg Wednesday afternoon and evening,
June 16th, This meeting is called in
order to emphasize the great importance
of Sunday School work and the neces
sity of creating more efficient organiza-
tions and as well as better equipped
teachers. The speaker at both sessions
will be Dr. D, Burt Smith, of Philadel
phia, a member of the staff of the church
paper *‘The Lutheran”. Delegates are
expected from every Lutheran Sunday
School of the county,
The Reporter has absorbed another
raise in the price of its newsprint in-
stead of passing it on to its patrons.
Beginning June 1st, we are compelled to
