The belt of thin copper worn by the
old legions was fastened to a strip of

Thimbles are ancient. Some speci:
mens are known to be 2,600 years old.
They are of bronze, and their outer
surfaces show the familiar indenta-
tions for engaging the head of the
needle. These thimbles are precisgly
like our modern ones, except that they
have no tops to cover the end of the
finger.

trance to the bullding, and above It
was placed a sign reading: “Charity
