The number of deer killed in Centre
county during the two weeks’ season
which came to a close last Friday, is
estimated at close to 200, No less
than a dozen bears were also killed.
The only section from which thoroly
accurate reports have come is from the
lower end of the county, over which
Forester Charles R. Meek kept a
watchful eye during the deer season.
The following is a list of the clube
that were successful in killing deer or
bear, the location of the cainp and the
number killed. Of course no club
killed a half a deer but often whén a
drive was made two parties would
conflict on the drive, hence when the
deer wes killed the parties woula di-
vide the deer, each taking balf, the
bead and hide going to the successful
shot. This accounte for the half deer
counted below,

A total of thirty-eight bucks were
alain in Forester W, E., Montgomery's
bailiwick, which is ten more than the
number killed last year in the same
territory. First honors for this season
go to the ‘* Militia,” a party of day-
hunters from Potters Mills and vicini-
ty, seven fine bucks having fallen as
victimes of their uanperring aim. A
noteworthy fect in this connection is
that in each case the deer slain was
the first one ever oblained bv the

foxes on Nittany mountein, Monday.
Fbe Durst home in Asronsburg was
sold to Durbin Musser, who will oc-
cupy it next apring.

house for the past week threatened
with pneamonis. He bas fully recov-
ered, howaver.

Fire Near Fotters Mille,
Mouday evening the abandoned
dwelling house at the old Harper place,
in the gap a mile above Potters mille,
was totally destroyed by firey together
with the outbuildings. Two tramps
were seen that day heading in the
direction of the old place and it Is
presumed they were the cause of the
fire, The property ia said to bave
been owned by W. G. Runkle, of
Bellefonte,
