GROUP OF ACTIVE MUSCLES |

Tongue—Proof of Man's Descent
From Vegstariana,
The tongue is really a group of
muscles, some running from root to
tp, others crossways. Any one of
these muscles can be used separately
or in combination with the others, so
that we oan move the whole tongue in
any direction—lengthen or shorten it,
hollow or arch it.
The tongue is malstened by the
mucous made by the mucous mem
brane that lines the mouth and by
saliva from the salivary glands. The

fe why when we are very much wor
ried or suddenly frightened our
mouths become so dry we can hardly
swallow,
The surface of the tongue is closo
ly covered with little points. In each
one of these points is the end of a
nerve of taste that runs from the
brain to the tongue. These little
points are called taste bulbs, and
they are most abundant on the sides
and the tip of the tongue. They are
fewer on the back of the tongue, be
cause that part of it is used mainly
to roll food und throw it into the
throat.

where women occupy a more dignified
position in the home than Servia. The
Bervian idea is quite different from
that of the Turk, who keeps his wom-

whose ideal woman is a hausfrau. In
Bervia the woman is the companion of
the man.
A man is responsible for his

Balkan states it is considered rather
