Harry OC. Bhirk, of Centre Hall, Mr. and Mrs. John Dashem, of near Tusseyville, and Mr, and Mre, William McCormick, of Potters Mille, attended the funeral of Edwin B. Royer, at Altoons, Wednes- day afternoon. Daniel Ripkay of Spring Mills was a caller on Tuesday, having come to Centre Hall to see the Kansas horses sold at public sale, and while in town did not fail to call on the Reporter, Mr. Ripkay is a remarkably well pre- served man for seventy and three years old, He attributes his good physical condition to the abundance of exercise when a younger mao, Mr, Ripkay holds to the Pennsylvania Dutch, and cannot be induced to speak English, A complete renovation has taken place in the local drug store since Dr, H. H. Longwell took posession last week. The interior has been painted in white, linoleum placed on the floor, and everything made spick and span. Harry Kline, the new pharma cist, is giving his attention to display- ing the goods in a real advertising sort of way and business is booming at the old stand. The drug store has taken the name of the Centre Hall Pharma- oy. The working force engaged in plant- ing a quarter million seedlings on the Greens Valley State forest tract under supervision of Forester Leonard Barnes, of Centre Hall, was materially reduced after the first day’s work op Monday. When It became known that the men were to put in ten-hour daye there was a disturbance that culminated in eight to ten men leav- ing bed and board on the State’s land and pulling for home to await the return of Mr. Barnes who is expected back from Philadelphia to-day. It appears that the men, who numbered twenty-four on the first day, were to work only eight hours a day, but Ranger Hoover, who has the men in charge during] the forester's abwence, is working under directions of his boss to keep the men busy for ten hours. The borough has a gang of men in Spigelmeyer’'s quarry gelling out stone. They now have about two hundred loads which they will use in fixing the streets this summer. Last Baturday was sucker day with the fishermen. They seemed to bite any old time and at any thing, Quite a number of large ones were caught by those fishing for trout.
