The arrangement of a drainage sys-
tem has a great deal to do with the
cost of construction as well as its ef-
ficiency. There are three systems
which can easily be laid out by farm-
ers, and the drawings accompanying
this article show how they are to be
laid out.
One system (Fig 1) is that in which
laterals enter a main tile from the

manure was used, the average yearly
return from the land itself was $2.75

pounds of phosphate,
