Alleged Police Murderer “een In Lewisburg,
A man who is supposed to have
been Jobn Penny, for whose arrest a
reward of $2000 ia offered by the city of
Elmira, New York, for the murder of
chief of poiice in that city, was geen
on the streels of Lewisburg, on Batur-
day. ‘When Bherifl Hackenberg of
Union county attempted to arrest
him, the alleged murderer evaded cap-
ture by thrusting two big revolvers in
the fsce of the sheriff,

and was on the lookout for him
When he recognized the man as
Penny he stopped him, but the strang-
er pulled the revolvers, backed off and
disappeared down the railroad tracks.

Jed by Jackson Cornelius, Milton’s po-
lice chief, surrounded the house
