Lest week a statement was made in
these columns that a movement was
put on foot by Mr. McCormick, Dem-
ocratic candidate for governor, to or-
gauizs the boys in the state, pledging
them for better government Penn-
syivania. * True Blue’ buttons, and
a supply of pledge cards and lesflote
describing the new leagus for good
government kown as the ** Friends of
Pennsylvania,” have been sent to this
office where boys may secure them.

{ Mrs, Catharine C. Bhook, widow of
| the late J. €. 8Bhook, died at her home
in Bpring Milla Monday afternoon at
about one o'clock, following a week's
illness with Bright'a disease. Fu-
neral services will be held this { Thurse
day ) morning in the Penns Crerk
Lutheran chureh at Penn Hall, and
will be conducted by Rev. D. M.
of Asaronsburg and Rev,
Hheeder of Clarion, the latter a former
pastor, Iuterment will take place in
Heckman’s cemetery at Penn Hall,
Mrs, Bhook wae the youngest of the
children to the first wife of Daniel
Luse, deceased, and the only rurviving
member of that union is Daniel F.
Luge of Centre Hall, Bhe is also sur-
vived by three half-brothers, namely,
Malcolm A. Luse, Norfolk, Virginia ;
P. H. Luse, Centre Hall ; and IL. M.
Luse, Coburn,
In ber marriage to J, C. Bhook no
children were born, byt they took in
their home own,

and raisfd ss their
three children. Mr. Bhook died ten
years and ei that time Mrs,
Shook had charge of the small dairy
