When call ed for please say advertised, The Pennsylvania State Grange has decided to confer the Hixth Degree al Atlantic City during the meeting of the National Grange, November Yih. The executive commitlee has en- gaged the Monticello Hotel for the use of Pennsylvania Patrons. The hotel management will give a bap- quet one night duriog the meeliog free Lo the hotel gueels, The Union county lax payers are making an effort to have more rigid honesty enforced about the court house in Lewisburg, and as a resuil » number of county officials have been surcharged with items varying from a few dollars to $50, Some of the items are very small, and at first one would think that they had better be accepted, but it is poor policy to permit public funds in any smouut to be misappropriated. The interior of the court house being finished, the commissioners have de- cided that the great, large porch should also be rebuilt. The floor will be laid with granite tile and the ends built up with solid granite. At the present time there are stone sleps al every point. These will be removed, and in front steps will be built up only between the four central columns. The ends of the porch will also have steps, The points not having steps will be protected with a railing. Now that the schools have begun their sessions, we must not forget that our ehildren are still our children and the more interest we show in their school the more its efficiency is increas ed, There is no teacher worthy of the dame who is not pleased with the judidlons advice and assistance snd sympathy fromm the parents. The gulf is too wide between the home and the school, and the more we help to bridge it over the more we are improving, not only our own children, but the general tone of the school, If the children see that their parents sp. preciate their teacher they are more apt to do so themselves, lend cheerful snd willing obedience to the teachers wishes and have a certain pride In the success of the school, This from the Democratic Watch. man will indicate that Centre county has well furnished the rooms for ite chief officials : W.
