Tenant Kills Planter.

B. Scott, a wealthy planter and Con-
federate veteran, was shot and in-
stantly killed on hig farm, near here,
by J. Hillary Day, a tenant, after a
dispute concerning the farm Judge
Scott cut Day with a knife several
times, it is said, whereupon Day drew
a revolver and began to fire. Day is
under arrest
Postoffice Robber 8 Years Old.
Daretown, N. J. (Special). Some
few days ago the Daretown post
office was entered and robbed of 871,
but the matter was kept quiet. The
thief was finally captured and proved
to be only & years of age. As all but
three dollars were returned, and bee

Woman Killed Purgatory.
Mammoth Cave, Ky. (Special).
The first fatal accident that has oc
curred inside of Mammoth Cave in
years occurred when Mrs. Helen Day,
of Wyoming Pa., fell from a preci-
pice, striking on the granite known
as ‘purgatory’ and fracturing her
skull. She died later. Mrs. Day,
who was the widow of the publisher
of the Wyoming County Democrat,
came here several days ago with a
party of sightseers. Among her
companions was her sister, Mrs. BE.
