Ephriam H. Bhook, a well known
farmer in Gregg township, took his
owt life early Wedneaday morning.
It appears he and one of his sons occu
pled a room, and about three o'clock
the son went down stairs for some
medicine, and during his absence the
father arose from his bed, snd with a
shot gun committed the deed,
Mr. Bhook had been in poor health,
and the temporsty aberation, durine
which time the awful tragedy occurred,
Is attributed to that fact. He was a
member of one of the most prominent
families in Gregg township, being a
son of Philip Bhook, deceased, his
mother, Mrs. Catharine Harter Shook,
surviving him, as do also three
brothers, namely, George F. and
Emanvuel P., both of Spring Mills, and
Daniel, of Coburn.
Mr. =hook lived on the 8hook
homestead, near the Heckman ceme-
tery, below Bpring Mills. His wife
was Miss Roush, who survives as do
