Lyman, of Crandall, near Cou- dersport, has noticed a peculiar species of bug in the potato patches, and has taken pains to watch them, at first be- lieving them to be a new variety of pest. Close observation showed him that the newcomers were slaying the destructive potato bug, so he sent one to the State zoologist at Harrisburg, That official has given the classifica. tion of the insect but knows no means of propagating them.
