dweussed by the Peunsylvauia tate
Grange al its meeting at Bunbury last
week was that of life tusurance. The
kratuge recommended the appointment
of w committee to luquire into the
Inasibility snd practicability of orgau-
izing a grange life insurance company
nil Lo prepare plans for the same to
present ut the auuual session of the
Sluts Grange io 1906, This committee

Ly the revelalious resulting from the
luvesiigations of the big New York
life lustrauce cowpauies, brought
about by the reckless exiravagance, if
not gonfy, ul the Tue fact
thal presidents of these companies
have been receiving anuual salaries of
from $100,000 to $150,000 and that
muuy policy holders are hard pres-ed
to Keep up their payments causes the
gravgers to give the project of grauye
life insurance careful study.
The loss of the support of the grauy-
ers would be a serious one to Lhe
surance companies. A farmer, because
of the peacefuluess of his occupation,
his temperate habits and the fact that
he lives au outdoor life, is regarded as
a safe risk by insurance companies.
The State Grange took these thiugs in-
to consideration and therefore expres.
sed the view that the farmer should no
longer pay high rates for life insurance
but that he should insure himself ata
nominal cost. The probe iuserted into
the big insurance companies is likely
to have far-reaching eflects, and the
companies must assume the blame for
this,
