tire town was in frenzied over
the suspense caused by the appeal for
respite. Everybody had the topic of the
execution upon their lips, in hotels,
stores, and homes. The town was over

The Black Caps.
Fifteen years age Andrews was hang -
ed in the same jail yard, and from the
sate scaffold. The cap used at that
time was still in the jail. It was used as
a pattern for the two new caps used.
The caps were made by Miss Pearl Rid-
er and Miss Ida Condo—young ladies
who live in the Sheriff's home, The lat.
| ter young lady, Miss Condo, is a daugh-
ter of the unfortunate turnkey Jerry
Condo, who was killed in the county jail
