DEER KILLING,
| Boalsburg Comes In for a Good Share of
Big Uame,
The hunters of Boalsburg and vi-
cinity bave bad very good success dur-
{ing the past week, The place has al-
| ways been noted for good marksmen
| for the past few generations, and the
| young men of the community are add-
ing lustre to the record of the Rileys,
et al,
Thursday of Inst week a mixed party
of hunters from Boalsburg, Linden
Hall and Branch killed two deer. The
killing was done by George Meyer, of
Linden Hall, and Harry Miller, of the
Branch. The former put the last bul-
let into the deer wounded by Miller,
A third deer was killed by a My,
Lightner, of Stone Valley, who hap-
pened to be in the same vicinity,
These deer were slaughtered near the
tram road along Laurel Run,
Saturday a small party of Boalsburg
hunters went to the mountains im-
mediately opposite that place, and
killed two deer. The sportsmen who
killed them were Homer Barr and
Samuel Bailey,

Dr. Schaeffer, State Superintendent
of schools, has sent out notices to all
districts that no appropriation will be
granted where the district secretary
cannot make oath that all the provis-
ions of the compulsory school law have
| been comulied with.

W. 5. Musser Goes to Lykens,
The spring Mills correspondent has
| this to say of one of its citizens, and
| the readers will endorse it :
W. 8. Musser has resigned his posi-
| tion at the station to accept a similar
| one at Lykens, Pa. His probable suc-
| cessor will be R. KE. Catherman, who
| has charge of a station at Farrands-
ville, Clinton county. For fifteen
| years Mr. Musser has been a very pop-
ular and sccommodating railroad
agent. His many friends will be sor

WILLIAM W., BELL.
The bible quotation “In the midst of
life we are in death’ had another sad
exemplifieation in the sudden and un-
expected death of a well known and
highly respected citizen, William W.
Bell, which occurred Saturday morn-
ing at his home in Bellefonte,
Mr. Bell wasenjoying bis usual good
health, and retired Friday night in
good spirits. About 1:15 o'clock he
went to his daughter, Mrs. Calvin
Troupe’s, bed room door and called
ber and then returned to his room,
His daughter hastened to his bed side
and found him spitting blood, A doe-
tor was sent for but before medical at-
tendance reached him he had passed
away. Death was due to hemorrhage

Will Keller, son of P. F. Keller, who
has not been home for the past year, is
due here this (Thursday) morning,
Mr. Keller holds a position at Pitts
burg in the union depot, being in the
employment of the Pennsylvania rail-
road company.
Domer Emerick came home the oth-
er day from near Pittsburg, where he
bad been working in the freight yards.
He is home for repairs, having met
with an accident which incapacitated
him. When he came home he was
obliged to use crutches.
Mrs. Anna Bell Hettinger, of near
Centre Hill, last week went to Harris-
burg where she will visit her daughter,
Mrs. Mame BSlaughenhaup. Mr.
Blaughenhaup Is proprietor of the
Eagle House, a hotel that is doing its
good share of business,
A. N. Bitner, of Pine Station, was
in town several days last week. Mr.
