(Special) The steamer Poughkeepsie, of the Central Hudson Steamboat Company, ran on the rocks at Stony Point, a few miles south of Haverstraw, before daybreak. The vessel is badly wrecked. At the time of the accident there was a heavy. downpour of rain, and the night was, ark, and the pilot did not see the lighthouse, which is only 200 feet from where the vessel ran ashore.
