She and Her Children are Thrown from a Buggy and Seriously Injured, A serious accident occurred between Tusseyville and Colyer Saturday about noon to Mrs. Wm. Rockey. E. Ebey, of Zion, and the second prize of a five dollar suit to Si- mon Parsons, of Milesburg. The larg- est pumpkin weighed fifty-nine pounds. The contest caused consider- able excitement, and a large crowd gathered to see who would win. The judges were, Messrs. John C. Miller, Christ Decker and W. G, Runkle, Ke. HORSES DIE, DW, Bradford and Several Others Lose Horses from Lock Jaw, D. W. Bradford, living two and one - half miles south of this place, last week lost a very valuable horse from lock jaw. One of Mr. Bradford's other horses during the night got loose in the stable which excited ths young animal to such an extent that it is pre- sumed the beast took lock jaw from over excitement. Nothing noticable nailed the animal in the morning, but during the day when taken to water he was unable to open his jaws and the next day died. He was a fine animal and worth considerable over $100, (ieorge Reish also lost a horse with the same disease some time ago. The entries for races number over one hundred and a number of first-class races took place already. The drivers drove to win and got all the speed out of the horses that was in them, The exhibits of cattle were very creditable, the College furnishing the largest per cent. The poultry exhibit was excellent and was brought there by a party from New York. The entertainments ad- vertised and the balloon ascension took place and were satisfactory. The principal features of the fair, as is the case with all fairs of today, isthe racing.
