——Rev. W. W. and Mrs. Rhoads re- |
turned home last Friday from a three |
weeks’ visit with friends in and about |
Shippensburg, Pa. The Rev. had tak- |
en the short vacation in hopes of be-
ing benefitted in health, and he re-
turns very much improved.
Mr. Lewis Irwin, our new hard- |
ware merchant, arrived on Monday | ¢
with bis family from Bellefonte, and |
they are now settled down in the resi-|
dence of the late Mrs. Odenkirk. Mr. |
Irwin expects to have his store open |
by July 1st in the foundry building. |

here last Saturday to spend the sum-
mer months with her grand parents,
ex-Sheriff and Mrs. Bpangler. Miss
Romie has been taking a course of stu.
dies at a Philadelphia institution since
January last, and will return to her
work again io the fall,
Rev, and Mrs. J. W. Boal, of
Port Carbon, Schuylkill county, were
arrivals in Centre Hall on Monday, on
a visit to their many friends in the
town. Mr. Boal has been in charge of
the Presbyterian church at Port Car-
bon, and is doing a great work for the
cause. They will remain several days

~Howard Bpangler, son of ex-
Sheriff John Spangler, of Centre Hall,
has been discharged from the Johns
town hospital, and is now with his
family at Bellefonte, their home for
the present. Howard was caught out
in the severe blizzard of last winter,
while working at Barnesboro, and his
hands and feet so badly frozen that he
was compelled to submit to amputa-
tions of parts of his hands and feet,
He was confined in the hospital
several months,
~e Harry Keller, Esq., Bellefonte's
popular young attorney, was a Centre
Hall visitor on Tuesday on profession-
al business, Among the available
members of the bar whose names are
mentioned in connection with the
judgeship honors to be dealt out in the
county in the course of a couple years,
Harry receives very favorable recogni
tion, and he will probably make a try
—Rev, R. C. Crittenden, of Belle-
fonte, the ardent worker for the Sun-
day schools, has been in Centre Hall
for a few days. He will assist in the
