Mrs. John Frazier, east of town, in-

“quilting bee’’ on last Thursday. Some
twenty guests were present, and all
appeared to have am enjoyable time:

quilts and one comforter were begun
and finished. Mrs, Frazier had pre
pared an excellent dinner, to which all
did ample justice, :

Prof. Hower and John From spent
last Saturday at’ Axemann and Pleas
ant Gap, soliciting students. The
Professor is a hustler and will have a
first class Teachers’ Normal at Boals-
burg this spring. The past winter has
demonstrated his eminent fitness for
the work. Besides his assistant, Prof.
Shannon, of Turbotville, Pa., the
Principal elected at Centre Hall sever-
al years ago, Is as well known as a
teacher to the people of Penns valley
as the principal himself, and with
