Thomas Lingle. Mr. Kennedy along
with Mr. Michael Shires have been
very successful with their patented
fire escape, which they manufacture
in Johnstown. The escape has been
endorsed by the Boards of Public Bafe-
ty in all the large cities. It is built
entirely of steel. The escape is rolled
up on a reel or drum and is fitted in a
handsome case inside the window
ledge. When used it is thrown out
the window, making a steel ladder to
the ground. They have been employ-
ing a big force of men in their factory,
and this is being gradually increased
to meet the demands.
