what the REPORTER has accomplished
in aiding enterprises in the county,
and it is gratifying to know that it
in general.
The course of this paper, in the fu-
ture, will be in its trodden path of
right and duty, and to maintain the
confidence reposed in us by the public.
We flatter ourselves of seeing the evi-
dence around us of having accom-

Happy New Year to all.

THE state legislature met on Tues-
day. Walton, Rep., of Philadelphia,
ras elected speaker of the house ; there
are no Centre county Republicans
among the subordinates of the senate
and house. The tremendous majority
brought no pap to our local calamity
howlers.

Tue Philadelphia Times Almanac,
for 1895, has come to hand: it is full
of useful information on many sub-
jects, and will be found convenient for
reference every day in the year. Its
election tables are all that any one can
desire.
dm ——
WE gladly give the Centre county
Republicans credit for a full measure
of patriotism based upon a burning de-
sire to serve their country. Sixty pa-
triots have applied to Gov. Hastings
for appointments. The General has
made up his mind that as our county
has the governor, it had enough and
that the other caramels properly be-
long to the hungry of other counties.
elses
THE tax-payers of our county should
bear in mind that at the spring elec-
tion, Feb. 15, they are to decide ‘‘yes"
or “no” whether this county shall
have a poor house.
- i ff tl
THE lucky fellow for postmaster of
the House was a Philadelphian, leav-
ing Fiedler on the shelf. No plumb
fell to Centre county Republicans at
the organization of the legislature.
