    STRICKEN DEAF AND DUMB,
A Sensational Story from Northumberland
County.
The following remarkable story is
going the rounds about town says the
Milton Record. On Monday a repor-
fer called on Rev. Fossellman, of the
Evangelical church, and verified the
statements so far as they came under
his observation: About eight months
ago an iron worker named Starks, em-
ployed down town became an-
gered and swore and blasphemed in a
most frightful way. In the midst of
his profanity he was stricken deaf and
dumb and never spoke a word until
last week when he attended a protract-
ed meeting in the Evangelical church,
and made a profession of religion, after
which his speech came back to him.
The next day however he was speech-
less again and he is now losing his
sight. When he first lost his speech
at the mill he said a vision appeared
to him and reproached him for his
wickedness and when it vanished he
was unable to speak or hear. The
case has a tinge of the supernatural
that we would like to see investigated.

Joel Royer's Will,
Joel Royer, who died suddenly at |
Rebersburg, two weeks ago, made a
will disposing of his wealth, which |
amounts to $25,000, mostly in money at |
interest. As we are informed, he wills |
$1000 to the Reformed church of his |
town ; the residue is willed to his rela- |
tives, in sums of $100 and up, accor-|
ding to nearness of kin. |
Mr. Royer, in the early days of the |
California gold excitement, went to |
the distant gold fields and was success- |
ful as a gold-seeker, and laid the foun- |
dation of his wealth. {

THE Bs sT PLASTER.—Dampen al
piece of flannel with Chamberlain's
Pain Balm and bind it on over the |
seat of pain. It is better than any |
plaster. When the lungs are sore such
an application on the chest and anoth- |
er on the back, between the shoulder |
biades, will often prevent pneumonia. |
There is nothing so good for a lame |
back or a pain in the side. A sore
throat can nearly always be cured in |
one night by applying a bandage |
dampened with Pain Balm. 50 cent
