Birds it is Lawfal to Kill, It is a very general impression among dwellers in country districts, and even among a great many of those who should be better informed on such subjects, that “flickers’’ or yellowham- mers, as they are termed by the game laws, and meadow larks are fair game at any andall seasons, There are also shot under the belief that there is “no law on them.” As a matter of fact, there are very few birds which ean be shot with im- punity in the state of Pennsylvania, The law of '89 was drawn up so as to what might be shot during lo prevent all further mis akes, the names of such birds as it was lawful to shoot at certain seasons of the year were set out in full. By seasons, bird was left out, so in 91 the law was amended to read as follows: “Seotion 1. Be it enacted, ete., That no person in any of the counties of this commonwealth shall kill, wound, or with any similar substance, poison bluebird, yellowhammer, yellow bird, thrush, woodpecker, catbird, peewee, martin, bluejay, oriole, kildeer, snow- bird grassbird, grossbeak, bobolink, phoebe-bird, humming-bird, ling, or any wild bird, other than a game bird. Nor shall any person pur- chase, or have in possession, or expose for sale, any of the aforesaid song and wild birds or any part thereof after they shall have been killed. purposes of this act, the shall be considered game birds: antidae, commonly known as swans, geese, brant and river and sea ducks; the rallidae, commonly known as rails, coots, mud hens and gallinules; the limicolae, commonly known as shore birds, plovers, sur{-birds, snipe, wood- following the gallinae, commonly known as wild turkeys, grouse, prairie chicken, pheasant, partridge and quail; and wild pigeons, and the birds com- monly known as reed-birds.” ed to read as follows: ‘Section 6, The English or Europe- cies of hawks, owls and crows, are not this act.’ Section 8 was also amended so the law should be paid to the inform- er. By a perusal of the above it will be seen that, as previously stated, there are very few birds that can be lawful- ly killed or taken in “the counties of this commonwealth.” aa Guaranteed Cure We gist to sell Dr. King's New for Consumption, Coughs and Colds, If you are afflict- Lung, authorize our advertised drug- upon this condition. ed with a Cough, Cold or any Throat or Chest trouble, and will use this remedy as directed, giving a fair trial, and experience no benefit, you may return the bottle and have your money refunded.
