Sportive Munters Set Fire to Oil in a Creek With Bad Results. An immense quantity of oil escaped from a break in the Cresent Oil Pipe Company's line in Manor township on Monday, flowing into Miller's run, Several hunters, to have some fun, set fire to the oil, and the surface of the creek was at once a mass of flame. The entire run bore the appearance of a furnace, the flames movnting up fifty toa hundred feet. Large trees along the banks were destroyed in a few minutes, and the heat was so in- tense that limestone ledges were re- duced to a chalky mass in an incredi- bly short time. To prevent the blaz- ing oil reaching Conestoga creek, a large quantity in the upper part of the stream was dammed and set on fire, explosions following which could be heard over a mile. Considerable blaz- ing fluid managed to get into Conesto- ga, but was prevented from doing much damage. Pipe line employes fi- nally smothered the flames and repair- ed the leak in the pipe. The loss large. is arose ee m—— Pronounced Hopeless Yet Saved, From a letter written by Mrs. Ada E. Hurd, of Groton, 8S. D., we quote: “Was taken with a bad cold, which settled on my Lungs, cough set in and finally terminated in Consumption. Four doctors gave me up, saying I could live but a short time. I gave myself up to my Saviour, determined if I could not stay with my friends on earth, I would meet my absent above. My husband was advised to get Dr. King’s New Discovery for con- sumption, Coughs and Colds. I gave it trial, took in all, eight bottles; it has cured me, and thank God I am now a well and hearty woman.” Trial bot- tles free at J. D.
