DEMOCRATS OF CENTRE.
Tuesday, November Sth is an im-
portant day. Turn out, to a man and
vote against tariff’ and tax monopoly
and tarifl’ bloated trusts. Every vote
for Cleveland and Stevenson is in fa-
vor of less taxation by tarifl' robbery.
learned that he is taxed on everything
he must buy and protected in nothing
that he produces; and he knows that
the first and the most important in-|
dustry of the nation is not prosperous
because he must now sell his wheat at
less than it costs to produce it even |
under the most frugal management, |
and because he knows that during the |
last twenty years of high taxes the |
market value of his farm has decreas- |
ed quite fifty per cent.

One of the most worthy names upon
the Democratic county ticket Is that
of H. B. Herring, for surveyor. His
qualifications are No. 1, and he bears
an unsullied character, and is an act-
ive and useful Gregg township Demo-
erat. Put your mark for him Novem- |
ber 8th.
Democrats of Centre, do not let the
“quiet campaign,’ so general over the
land, find you indifferent on Novem-

THE CLEVELAND TIDE.
The Sunday Zimes says: It must
now be obvious to all who dispassionat-
ely view current political events that
the popular tide is clearly and irresist-
ibly for the election of Cleveland to
the presidency. The developments of
the last ten days, even when the sin-
cerest sympathies of the whole Ameri-
can people went out to the President
who was sadly bereaved in the home
life he has ever adorned, the proclaim-
ed changes of conspicuous and in-
fluential men from the Republican to
the Democratic column, have been un-
exampled in any national contest since
1856,
There is no want of popular respect
for President Harrison, He is esteemed
an honest and in every way creditable
Chief Magistrate, The pontest waged
against him has been entirely free
from personal bitterness, and seandal
and defamation have been unknown
in the most earnest battle of modern
times. It has been a struggle solely
for better economic and governmental
systems; an in such a contest the high-
est taxes upon the necessaries of busi-
ness and of life ever imposed in time
of peace must be indefensible,
President Harrison will be defeated
and Mr. Cleveland elected because the
most thoroughly educational and dis
passionate contest of the history of the
Republic has forced the considerate
Judgment of the American people to

ean policy of oppressive taxes and in-
from? Why of course from every ons
