Heavy Damages,
Lyman Corman, of Bellefonte, has
brought suit against A. GG. Morris, of
Tyrone, for $20,000 damages for the loss
of an eye incurred while working in
his stone quarry near Bellefonte. The
accident occurred about a year ago
while Corman was employed as a
blaster and resulted in the loss of one
eye with the other badly affected. He
has been unable to work since,

Mrs. Jacob Dinges, of this place, has
moved to Williamsport, where two of
her sons, Cleven and Simon, have po-
sitions in an insurance agency. Mrs,
Dinges will be greatly missed by the
Evangelical church of this place, of
which she was an earnest and leading
member,

A Flock of Turkeys,
Several of our local sports have been
watching a flock of wild turkeys on
the mountains above town, and so far
have not succeeded in getting any of
them. There are about ten in the

marksman,

NARROW ESCAPE.
| The State College Narrowly Escapes Des.

On Monday afternoon the main
building at State College narrowly es
caped destruction by fire, and it was
only through the strenuous efforts of
the students and others that the large
building was not destroyed.
In burning a lot of rubbish and pa-
per a spark was carried to the roof,
which is of shingles and being dry,
soon ignited and the roof began to
blaze. The flames were at once discov
ered and a bucket brigade formed of
students and in this manner the flames
were extinguished, but not however
until quite a hole was burned in the
roof. The building of stone, five
stories in height and the largest in
Central Pennsylvania. The College is

The lower portion of the east side of
