    TWO FIRES,
The Flames Get in thelr Destructive Work
This Week.
On Tuesday morning, fire was dis-
covered in the store building of the
Enterprise Store Co., at Walker's Set-
tlement, several miles from Milesburg,
and the building was burned to the
ground. The building was also occu-
pied as a dwelling house. The occu-
pangs were unable to save any of the
household goods. The loss is covered
by an insurance.
On Tuesday evening, two stables
were destroyed by fire at Bellefonte,
They were occupied by Joshua Folk
and Frank Strunk. The buildings
were insured.

A RAILROAD WAR ENDED,
Pennsylvania and Beech Oreck Harmonize
In the Snowshoe District
The railroad strife waged between the
Beech Creek and Pennsylvania roads,
in the Showshoe district, has been set-
tled by the Lehigh Valley coal com-
pany agreeing to make all shipments
over which ever road is the most direct
line to its markets. The injunction
granted against the Beech Creek will
be withdwrawn by the Pennsylvania
and the former is allowed to cross the
latter's tracks wherever necessary.

Not Many Being Killed,
The squirrel season being ripe, our
sportsmen don’t seem to take full ad-
vantage of it, and comparatively few
have been killed. It is reported that
the rodents are plenty along some parts
of the mountain but no big hauls have
been made. So far Charley Arney
and Frank Ross have been the most
successful, but the number killed by
them we have failed to learn.

Special Return Train,
A special train will be run to Belle

October 4th, for the accommodation
of those who desire to attend the cen-
tennial celebration of that town. The
train will leave Mifflinburg at 9 o'clock
p. m., and stop at intermediate sta-
tions. The train will leave Miflin-
burg after the firework display.

He Changed It.
A school boy brought to his teach-
er a letter from a physician stating
that “This boy is unfit to attend school
for 304 days.” The long and exact
period aroused the teacher's suspicion
and he discovered that the physician
had written “3 or 4 days.” The boy
had changed it to “304 days.”
