DRADFORD,

form
Kilrain,
his arrival at Belfast, N. Y.,
liquor and tobacco sey rely alone. When
seen today he looked like a four time
winner. There was a bright luster in
his eves and a healthy gloy, in his cheeks,
“This will be the fight of my life,” he
said, “and I am going to win it or my
name isn't Sullivan.”
Is Confident,
fis trainer, William Muldoon, is per-
fectly happy in the belief that Sullivan
will win the Lig fight in a canter at New
Orleans next July.
“When | left New York with Sulli
van." said Muldoon to an intimate friend,
**I had orders to put him in tnim in ten
days. If I found that he was not in con
dition in that time, [| was to telegraph
Johnston, who would then forfeit the
big stake of §10,000. Johnston was de-
termined not to let Sullivan go into the
ring unless he was in condition to w in,
and rather than see any fizzle in the
ring was willing to lose his stakes and
let the fight go by default.
sullivan's Doeility,
“Sullivan obeys me like a child,” said
Mr. Muldoon. “I have balled all the
whisky and bad blood out of him, and in
five days training find him in splendid
form. Up to yesterday I could out wind
him in a wrestle, but today he fairly got
the better of me He knows that this is
to be the fight of his life, and will put in
his best licks. He is catching on to
wrestling like a thoroughbred, and will,
in my opinion, whip Kilrain in twenty
minutes. When he paralyzed Ryan he
was able to whip two like him. If can
get him into one-fourth as good a condi-
tion as when he fought Ryan no power
on earth can save Kilrain,’
Sullivan finds no time for mischief on
Muldoon's 125 mere farm. He does all
kinds of farm work. On Wednesday he
ut his hands to the plow and turned a
bs furrow. As a milkmaid, though, he
a failure. One of his duties
morning after getting up is to walk
about two miles to the dairy, where he
tries his hand at milking. He is as
afraid of a cow as a woman. He dis
dains to use the three legged stool. He
piumps right down on his knees on the
floor and milks with hand. He
keeps his wye on the head of the cow,
and his left hand is disengaged to repel
any vicious attacks Bossie may make
The Daily Routine,
After a light breakfast Sullivan slips
into three heavy wollen shirts, three sets
of drawers, encases his feet in heavy
stockings, puts on heavy shoes ballastad
with five pounds of lead, his
hands with felt lined mittens, and draw
ing a coarse cap over his forehead, starts
out for his daily constitutional. This is
a walk over hills and through valle ve
and forests to Birdsall, thirteen miles
away. He ususily starts at 8 A. M. and
returns at 4 P. M. His trainer turns up
his shoes when he returns, and pours out
about a pint of water from each. Then
he takes a brace of invigorating baths
and rests an hour. After that he goes
into the barn, which has a padded floor,
and amuses himself pasting at a sand
bag. Muldoon takes him in hand when
he 1 warmed up, and gives him heroic
lessons in wrestling. At 8 o'clock he
ents a light supper, takes a stroll, and at
11 o'clock is tucked away in his bed,
Everything Staked on the Result.
Muldoon's gymnasium is one of the
finest in the land. He possesses a unique
machine which develops every muscle
in the body. This machine is one of
John's pets. He takes to training like a
duck to water, and Muldoon expects to
make him as a wrestler second only to
himself. The training is to be kept up
until July 8, when the party will leave
for Rochester and embark in a special
car for the south. Cleary and Muldoon’s
brother and a force of trained rubbers
have the champion in charge. Muldoon
is of the opinion that over $500,000 will
be staked on the fight, and he wants as
much of it as he can get to place on Sul-
livan. Sullivan's arm does not trouble
him a bit. He expects to train down to
165 or 200 pounds.
Kept the New Postmaster Out.
MipprLerows, N. Y., May 20. —Ex-
Postmaster Henry Winters, of Cochecton,
N.Y. was held in $1,500 by Jommis-
sioner Shields on a charge of delaying
the mails. Herman Indelied was ap-
pointed postmaster at Cochecton about
April 1 to take Winters’ place. Inde-
lied's commission had been sent to him
from Washington, together with several
letters from Congressman Stivers, Wine
ters, it is claimed, purposely delayed
them. Post Office Inspector Stewart ar-
rested Winters at Cochecton on Wednes-
day last and found the letters and the
commission in the inside pocket of his
vest, The office is a fourth class one,
and the salary is only £150 a year. The
new postmaster did not get the office
until Winters was arrested.
