The Kepublican County Convention
met at Bellefonte, on Tuesday, a sort of a
forlorn hope, looki g for something to
turn np that might insure them a sop. It
is said all the bed bugs in the town were
glad, with tears of joy in their eyes; and
some even followed delogates to their
homes, There's nothing a bed hug seems
to take toso much as a Republican, be-
cause the little red critter knows he’s a

REPUBLICAN COUNTY TICKET.
The Republicans met at Bellefonte on
on Tuesday, and after considerable
jangling, nominated the following: Dan-
iel Rhoads, of Bellefonte, for Associate
Judge; Robert Cook, Jr , of Howard, was
nominated for Sheriff; Tytas Gramley, of
Miles, was nominated for Register; Dr.
John Harter, of Millheim, was nominat-
ed for Recorder; Cyrus Goss, of Ferguson

grams from both the Sultan and the
Ozar.
The message of the Sultan is moderate
in tone, bot states that the Prince's as-
sumption of the Bulgarian throne was
an illegal act and constitutes a breach of
the Berlin treaty.
The Czar’s communication is decided
ly imperative, that Raesia
disapproves of Prince Ferdinand’s action
and deems it a gross violation of the

Gov. Hill came to the rescue of defeated |
justice and ordered the convening of an
| Extraordinary General Term of the Sa
preme Court on the 7th of September to
hear and promptly dispose of Sharp's ap-
peal for a new trial. In consequence of
this prompt action on the part of the
Governor it is thought to be unlikely
that any attempt will be made to have
Sharp released on bail, and more unlike
ly still that any Judge of the Supreme
Court in the State would entertain such
lan application if it should be made.
Judge Potter had decided to give Sharp
a new trial,
scalded about the head and with his chost
and ribs badly crushed. He was taken to
his father's residence in this city, and died
at noon. The body of the engineer, Maw
terson, was burned under the engine,
