cago with a new healer for tram-cars.
The heater eonsists of a brass cylinder
about six inches in diameter and about
two feet long, which 1s filled with coal

cylinder is fastened honzontally under-

forced into a small super-heater, where
it is vaporised, In the floor of the car

the slightest exertion tires, will find
that a little time regularly spent in the
garden will have a favorable effect up-
on them, Devote the first part of the

your garden, Commence with what
seems the most pleasant work—tylng a
climbing vine against the porch, cut-
ting off the fading flowers, or raking a
flower-bed; bul do not tire yourself out
in the beginning; better to work only
five minutes at a time than become fati-
gued and discouraged. With your In-

drooping spirits revive, and the blush
of your roses become reflected upon
your cheeks.

BAD ErrecTs FroM SOWING IN
Wer Sorn,—Experiments made in sow-
ling a row of peas very early in the
pasty condition from wetness, resulted
in failure; a few plants only showing
above ground, and these never became
robust. Seed of the same lot was later
sown in dry ground, at a seasonable
time, and a strong growth, seemingly a
plant from every seed, and a heavy crop
was the result, In germination seeds
need air as well as moisture, and with-
out the former in due quantity, rot
must ensue, In the desire to have the
garden started early, no doubt much
seed is often spoiled by lpjudicions
planting inthe wet, Often the seeds-
man is accused of furnishing bad seed,
when the cause ot failure lies wholly in
the sowing.
