TWENTY-FIVE PERSONS KILLED.
London, July 16.—~News has just been
received of a terrible railroad accident at
Penistone. It seems that an express
train while dashing past the station at
the rate of thity-five miles an hour struck
the rear car of a goods train which had
not been properly shunted, completely
wrecking the express, Twenty-five per-
sous were Killed and forty seriously
jured.
The scenes underneath the bridge af-
ter the train bad fallen were terrible to
witness, The carriages were reduced al-
most to splinters, The groans of the men
and the shrieks of women and children
were heartrendiog in the extreme.
