We are informed that at the meeting
of the Penna R. R. directors, onll, Pres-
ident Roberts urged the necessity of the
completion of our road from Spring
Mills to Lemont this summer, and that
the board sanctioned the suggestion. At
the meeting of the B. E. V. directors, the
following week, on 18, the same matter
was urged and the board also took favor-
able action, It's been long acoming,
yet our people will gladly learn that the
cars long due will come along at last.
A BAD DAY FOR AOCIDENTS,
Last Thursday, 10, was a bad day for
serious accidents in Penn and Haines
townships, there being no less than four,
and all through horses,
Michael Rider, son of Isaiah Rider, of
Penn, having a team in charge, the hor-
ses ran off, and in young Rider's endeav-
or to stop them, the horses and wagon
went over him, from which he was seri-
ously injured internally, He died on
the following Saturday.
On the same day a avghter of G. W,
Harter was engaged in harrowing in the
field, and in trying to make a turn, the
girl fell off the horse she was riding and
ianded on the harrow, one of the horses
falling on her. One of her arms was bro-
ken at two places, and she sustained oth-
er injuries, There are hopes of her re-
covery. :
On same day an eight year old son of
Daniel Hosterman, of Penn, was kicked
in the face by a horse, while in the sta-
ble, receiving severe bruises,
On same day a son of Adam Bower, of
Haines, aged about 15 years, while in the
act of letting a pet colt through the bars,
the animal kickéd bim in the face, caus-
ing an vgly fracture of the jaw and oth-
er injuries of the face,
After all this one might as well put
Thursday down as the unlucky day aad
give Friday its dues.
