A remarkable disclosure was made only the other day, The inquiry made by Mr, Clifford Lloyd into the plot to murder the Crusheen district, in connection with which number of arrests have been made has led to re- markable discoveries, the first clue to the existence of a conspiracy was obtain- 'd by the confession of a man namad Tabridy, who was wounded while engag- ack on an objectionable party by moonlighters, Tabridy has given fall ticulars in court of the murder of a | Kennedy, by assassins who ht from a distance to perform I'abridy stated he belonged to hich he was obliged ii a i in an att in name y biranoe 2 Dog ociety in wh ) continue. in January, 1882, anized with the lax dlords, age nts l leader was a man Ile introduced to ym Dublin who through other coun- cieties, 1le stated would supply the and promised that the y Max Inerney the ex- { by men who were sent distri t. Underneath this im measurable wealth are almost exhaustless jaatities of the best grades of iron ore. And it seems to me that one of the great- est wrongs that bas been perpetrated upon this people is the extenuating fact that if has been done with a view to keep ther competing lines from any share of iblic patronage ; but the people have roused and are making arrangements to fold meetings of the citizens as soon as possible, and are resolved to subseribe Hberally and to give the right of way to any line that will guarantee them a road, ‘epardioss of where it may pass through their valley, Moreanon, A Orrizes, nm ob MSI MRS Accounts of a dreadful domestic trage- dy have been received from Cham, Bavaria. A ropemaker killed his wife, mother-in-law and two sons, and then poisoned himself, ~The reascn sc many railroads are going to and near Bellefonte is because of the great passenger trafic to the Phila deiphia Branch, where all now get their clothing for men and boys 20 to 30 per cent cheaper than elsewhere, The as. wortment is the largest and best ever brought to this part of the state, For a _ real bargain, go to the Philad, Branch. | a ———" ain THE "SUSQUEHANNA AND ALLE GHENY” RAILROAD. Among the new lines of railroad that will pass through this county and which are now being located is the ‘Susquehanna and Allegheny,” extending from Milton on the Susquehanna river, to Punxsutaws ney, Jeflerson county. The several corps of engineers are traversing the route, and the location of that part of it from the foot of the mountains at Marsh Creek, to the south fork of White Deer creek, covering Bald Esgle, Nittany and Sugar Valleys: will probably be completed in two months and the entire route within three months, The work of building will begin in the fall, The L., H. Journal indicates that, after connecting at West Milton with the Reading road, the line will extend west to White Deer Mills, and White Deer Fur- nace, across the mountains into Sugar Valley ; passing Boeneville. Tylersvilie and Logansyille ; thence to Nittany Val- ley ; thence to Washington Furnace, Clin- tondale, Cedar Springs, Mill Hall, Eagle- ville and Moshannon ; across the Moshan- non to Brown's Run into Clearfield county passing DuBois and on to Punxsutawney. ne A pm A Home for Every One. What the people want and ought to have are homes and a chance—homes and a living chance. Give a family a home of their own and it is the best safeguard for the perpetuity of a gov- ernment and the happiness of a pevple, I was always sorry for a family who had no home, but had to dodge about from house to house and place to place—no orchard to improve, no flowers to love and nurse, no sacred spot, no. castle, as Blackstone calls it. I don’t know how other people prize it, but my home is the dearest spot on earth to me and to my family. There is no place like home—not a rented home, forever wanting repairs, but a home to live in and die in, which the boys who have found work afar off can look back to with affection and revisit with pure de- light, and where the good wife and daughter can plant the vine and rose nd sow the flower seed, and the d and the grape vines bring their in due season. It won't do to say he poor are too lazy to work and nd and have a house. They tried. They don’t get 1 for their labor to lay up any- They are not encouraged. Vane and company get all they make { above a poor living, and Van. ilt must be protected. The trouble is our people have got hardened to fix- 17 a minimum price upon labor, just ugh to feed and clothe the family ily with no margin for old age or ss, much less a house. What Il this mean and these syndicates g up all the land of the great West, 700,000 acres and 300,000 acres in Texas and large tracts in Arkansas? Why don't the United States Govern. ment buy it up and save it for homes ) The government gave away 100 millions of acres in Texas at “time to a wealthy corporation to rire em to build a railroad-—more land han is contained in any four states in he Union except Texas, and our states- men have made no protest. The mone Il going in the hands of a few and i. There is a way to sto it is agitated the rich agrarianism and and hire the and bribe nen and scare off the little ones, it g What we need are statesmen, not hirelings. We want fearless men who can't be tampered . Let all this surplus wealth, these bloated fortunes be taxed tosupport the government. After a man has accumu- late d £100,000 begin to tax the excess, and the more he accumulates the heavy jer the rate; and when it gets up toa million take all the excess, if necessary, to equalize in some manner the burdens and the comforts of life and provide homes—humble homes—for the people. A man with ten acres and a house of his own, is a good citizen in peace and a tower of strength to his government in time of war. A million of dollars is enough for any one man. He ought not to hunger and thirst for more, for he can’t need it and it makes a dog of him to hoard it up. Who has any re- spect for such men as Vanderbilt, or (zould, or Senator Sharon, or even for the memory of Stephen Girard or A, T. Stewart? Nobody.—Bill Arp. a ~—=Jay Gould is worth a hundred millions and is going to retire from busi- ness. He owes much of his riches to the money saved in purchasing clothing at low figures like at the Philad. Branch. Folks that would iike to get rich must follow Gould's example, and buy their clothing of Lewins & Co, the pon establishment in the state, ~The Texas cow-boys are on a strike for an increase from $30 to $50 per month, That's en-cow-raging.
