Mr. Jonathan Philips d:ed at Milt
helm. on last Thursday. 11. He was an
old resident of that place, and one of the
oldest citisena in that neighborhood. Mr.
P. was an upright man ail his life, and es
teemed by all who know hioi.
A few davs ago Rev. J. K. Mil.cr
removed one of his steam engines from the

man, * few miles below this place, where
he is about putting up a steam saw mill
upon a timber tract which he has leased
from Mr. Rossman. and will proceed to
the manufacture of iumoer.
Dr. Caller has resigned'bis position
as president of the State Agr. College.
This institution has prospered under Dr
Catder's management, and now stands in
better repute with the people in general
than at any previous time.
