The Selinsgroye Times 14, says : On Tuesday evening, August 6th, Philip Schnee's barn, about one balf mile west of Fremont, was struck by lightning and con sumed with all its contents excepting live stock. Conferees for Judge, Congress and Senator, were deferred to bo chosen by a convention of one delegate from each district on Sept. 12. The .whole number of delegates wa* 102, of which 27 were democrats. Each district was entitled to 4 dele gates —some 4 or 5 townships were not represented. There wa* a little , sparring and jarring at times, but the convention got along pretty fairly for a new thing. Frank Green, the chair man, discharged his duties right cred itably. Bob M'Knight was proposed for Assembly, but with raised fist he declined, saying if they desired to drive him back into tho democratic party they would do it by nominating him. J. C. P.
