saw mill iNo. 1: of Messrs Hoover, llar

annual ceremony ot decorating the graves
of the soldiers who died during tho late
war, and the wars that preceded it. The
committee of arrangements, C. \V. Conor,
F. G. Berry, J. S. Tyson, "W. C. Webber
and J. S. K'cilach. r, had worked indus
tri -ly, aril deserve credit. The 1' O

when chief M.,r-hal Berry formed the pro.
cession. They then proceeded to the
Evangelical church ar.J received the >un
day o1ool; counter marched, a'd pro
cr. led to tho town hail, whero they were
r* c< ived by the Lutheran Sunday school.
The meeting was then opened with prayer
by Rev. Young, after which a beautiful
piece of inu-ic was rendered by tho L. S.
S. with I'rof. W. A. Ki ier presiding at
the organ. Orations were delivered by
Proft. T. N MoUhee, A. W. B rumgard
arid Rev. Young, interspersed with music
by the Sabbath schools. The procession
then formed and proceeded to the Evan
gelical cemetery, where tho decoration
was performed They then marched to
the Lutheran cemetery, where
like ceremonies were held.
A circle was then formed and Doxology
> sung, Rev. Young offered prayer, and
' were dismissed. The decoration was a

A TERRIBLE BRIDGE ACCIDENT
AT BATH.
Louden, June O—A dispateb from Bath 1
gives th# following particulars of an acci- ~
dent there to-day. About half-past ten "
o'clock this morning, on the arrival of a £

Bridgeport, Conn., June s.—At 11. 10 p. s
m. the outside watchman at the Union ri
metallic cartridge works discovered light (
in the fourth story of Glover Sanferd A ,
Bon's factery. As i< almost invariably .
the case in this city the water supply prov- ,
ed insufficient, and after exhausting the ,
street main the steamers took water from .
the -vamp holes and ponds in the vicinity. (
Here water was "btninable, but in lbs
meantime tbe fire had escaped control. It;,

building was 2K> long, 60 feet Wide, and
five and a baif stories high. To the top of
a high basement the trails w are 10 inches

by an attic, all supported by I'2-inch walls
the windoxvs being 48 inches wide, and
the columns between tbem only 40 inches
Il will he seen that there was little proba
bility of the walls standing. It is in con*
sequence of this fact that the lost of life
occurred. VN'hilo volunteers were engag
ed in removing goods from the building,
an entrance was effected into the office, a
one story building at the northxveit corner
of the factory, and a dozen or twenty men
rushed in and commenced to get out the
safe, counter find other furniture, when
suddenly, and without warning to those
inside, the back wall ar.d then the front
A ail fell out, leaving tho two highest walls
unsupported. Tbe one adjoining the office
leaned outward, and as a shriek went up
from hundreds of spectators, fell upon the

basement and bury ing in tho ruins those
who had beer, engaged in the rescue. One
man, who escaped with a gush on his fore

ane remained inside, replied that there
were a dozen in there, which number
proves to have been nearly correct, eleven
bodies having been recovered, nearly all
of them being fearfully crushed and more
or less burned

when she was compelled to take her bod.
Her last hours were attended with severe
suffering, yet she passed calmly, peace
fully and hopefully into the spirit world.
Her death was caused by carcinoma of the
Liver as revealed by a jost-morti m ex
amination.
Her remains wcro followed to their rest
ing place by an unusually large concourse
of kindred and sympathising friends.
