A fj'Hxl article is now going the
rounds of the newspaper*, under the head
ing of "What Public Men Owe lo News
papers," showing how many great men
have been manufactured out of small ma

their little-selves magnified in the news
papers. We know a newspaper that ha*
puffing of small material on the brain, and
whm one of its like-te-be-tickled enter* or
conies within twenty live rods of it* office,
the neat issue is sure to contain a soft-soap
notice of "the leading citizen and demo
crat." A nigger noticing this cheap fod
der, once offered to bet he could get a puff
sure by simply "haven nother nigger pass
dat office wid his hat and pants stucked to
a poll." Its wonderful how cheap some
fellow* are. We also knew a wag of the
•'white trash", for experiment, to pas* the
window of said office, looking in as he
pa?ed, and sure enough, neat issue had
the customary " leading citizen, Jtc .
was in town on and passed our office"
