Killed by Lightning.—A correspondent
,of a York paper writes: The vicinity of
..ttleSherryville was shocked on Wednes.
slay, the 24th ult., by the Intelligence of
the sudden death of one of Its citizens.
the evening a storm came up which
was attended with very sharp lightning
-and heavy thunder. When the storm
appeared Henry Snyder and his wife
were in the field hoeing corn ; but the lat.
-ter-went to the house in order to escape
the rain. Immediately after reaching
the house she was startled by a blinding
flash of lightning, followed by a deafen
ing -peal of thuuder. Not seeing her hus
band coming as he had promised, she
started lu quest of him, stopping at the
Stable, thinking he might have taken
refuge there. Not finding him there,
she proceeded tothe corn field, where she
found hips dead, having been killed by
the dash referred to. 1 - fe hail started for
the house with a steel hoe on his shoul
der, which had reeeiVed the fatal mes
senger. The hoe-handle was shivered
in pieces, a part of which was in the
clenched band of the deceased. Mr. S.
leaves a wife and two small children.
