fiELF-RAKER.
1/111R - tindersigned are agents, for this tele
". brated Combined Self-raking Reaper and
/lower. This machine has two driving wheels,
hinge-joint and culling-bar, is very simple in
construction, and is considered by those who
have used them- to be enaal in a 11.3 to any
light machine made fur mowing only. It cuts
4 feet 8 inches in grass, and 5 feet 6 inches in
grain, is a rear-cut side-thdivery, capable of,
cutting a whole field of grain withont binding
a sheaf, and does The most satisfactory work
in lodged grain,, to be worked with two
horses. We claim this Self-raker to be the
best in existence. Farmers reading over the
different advertisements will come to the
conclusion that all are best, but we will give
them our reasons for calling ours the best;
Ist. This Self-raker has four rakes (no
blanks of fans). Th • driver, by means, of a
small lever in front of hini, can make either
rake sweep Or platform at his will. You will
see by this that it makes no difference how
far you have to drive, you can always have a
full sheaf, thereby saving binding, gathering
or dividing sheaves.
2111 if your grain is one thickness su that
it will p^rmit of making a s'onif each revolu
tion of the Rake or you wish to pot the driver
on the homes, you ran de so by simple thaw
ir.g one bir, amdstill keep the rakes all on to'
drop into the lodged or tangled grain. • 11-re is - 1
one point to a hick we wish to draw your
attention. Take notice where all these rakes:
strike into the grain and then compare theta '
with blanks or reels on other .Self;••akers.
31. If you wish your oats on a swath, tie
your leer f.st, and it i ill do.ita work per
feztly and you will be safe for wet weather.
4th. All met know that in a hand-raking
Reaper that the reel must he changed for dif
ferent kinds of grain to make it reel on plat
form, and so must a Stif-raker to make perfect
work in extreme tall or short grain. This
Poke has this most desirable and indispensa
ble improvement, which to other rake has.
This is done by changing two S. screts in
r.ike-re.td which works on a pirit. With a
combination of these four desirable points, it
la us been unanimously acknowledged by ail
disinterested and pra. tical machinists 'to be
decidealy simple and durable in its eonstrt:c
ti.•n.
