The nomina tion of secretary Francis as head of he interior department, has been irferrort to the finance committee in accordance with the custom ot the senate. Komi nations of the president for cabinet positions are usually confirmed very promptly. The nomination of Mr. Francis was sent to the senate a week ano and yesterday was the first mcetms of the finance committee since t he nom ination was referred to it. Stretary Francis will not be continued until after the senatorial election in Missouri. It is understood that Senator Vest, a member of the finance committee, suggested that the nomination jjo over until after the holidays.
