Mr. Kobeit MoCombie. of Carroll town
ship, celebrated his S7lh birthday last
week, and that, although so far advanced
in years, he is remarkably well-preserved

brother, who lives at Dysert, nineteen

Frank tl. Patton, ex-cashier of the

was a passenger on mail on Wednesday

ing Maoleton, some miscreant threw a
stone in the window and it struck Mr.
Patton's arm. The missile struck his
cray bone, causing great pain. Mr. Pat
ton feared his arm was broken. When the
train arrived at Alloona he had his injury
examined bv Dr. S. M. Koss. It was found

Mr. James Cain, a well-know n citizen
of Carlo!! tow uship, died suddenly at his
home ou Friday evening of last week. He
had been enjoying hi usual good health

nent citizen of Napier township. lied ford
county, was severely injured by lightning.
Mrs. Dobsou was sitting on the porch
during a thunder storm, when a bolt of
lightning struck the pon h near by. The
woman fell from her cha!r ami w as picked
u;i and carried into the house. It was
first supposed that she was dead, but after
a few minutes, signs of life Were delected
and a physician was hastily summoned.

At eleven o'clock this (Thursday) night
the jury in the case of the commonwealth
vs. Christ H. lilock for the murder of
William A. Strayer, mentioned in our
court proceedings- as bring on trial, re
turned a verdict of guilty of manslaughter.

was then remanded to jail for sentence.

son of Mr. Thompson got hold of a cali
bre revolver in some manner and were
playing with it on tin green near their
home when young Thompson accidentally
discharged the weapon, the ball entering
young Hoge's neck at the Adam's apple
and close to the windpipe. Ir. Fichtner
was called and attended lo the lad's in
jury. Although the doctor found tjuite a
hole in the boy's neck, no trace whatever
of the ball could be found. Young Hoge
experiences no trouble from his wound,
aud will probably be all right again in a
few days. It was a close call, however.
