necessaries of life.
The Pittsburg Thin is an object lesson

once ;i week a report, prepared by experts
of special interest to agricultural readers;
and, linally it is the only Pittsburg news
paper which prints daily the highest class
of fiction.
In addition to all this, the Tiim'X offers
to all its readers al a nominal cost the

Miles Kennedy was the victim of a hor

the battery man by a man w ho was sta

not out of harm's way.
He had prepared to blast a "bottom
hole," ami was in the act of putting the
linishing touches to his work, but before
he could get away tc a place of safety the
signal to ignite the blast was giyen to the
man at the electric key and in an instant's
time the deadly explosive had performed
its terrible work, the rock was shattered
into thoii-ands of pieces, ami Mr. Ken

b.-loie it, was lying a mangled, bruised
nia-s of shattered llesli and bones some
distance away.
When the extent of the terrible work
that had been done dawned upon the
startled .jiiarty men they ran to their un
fortunate companion's side. It was found
that Itoth Ins eyes were blown out, one
arm and one leg were torn completely
fiom his body; he was a mass of bruises
and lite. -ra t ions fiom head to foot, and a
most diligent search failed to reveal a
trace of the missing arm, which, report
says w as blown into atoms.
The injured man lingered in the great
est agony until i o'clock Thursday even

elided his suffering. lie was altout -M
