A fatal wreck occurred on the Penn sylvania railroad atxjut a mile west of La trohe at 2 o'clock on Monday morning by w hich Fireman th-orge Litzinger, of C ne inattgh.lost his life. A coal train was pulling out or atiout crossing the east-bound track when a section of the Fast Line can e thunderling along and struck the engine of the coal train. Me was still alive when taken out but died shortly after. Me was alout 35 yearsof age, a res ident of Coiienungh, where he leaves a w ife and two children. The engineer and fireman of Fast Line were also severely hurt. None of the passengers were ser iously Injured, though some were painfully bruised. Mr. John C.trman, nf this place, was summoned to the almshouse on Friday last to make some repairs to the engine that supplies that institution with water. Mr. (iarinan is pretty well up in years and can not stand the cold as well as in his young er days. After working about the engine and getting pretty well chilled, he came to town aud finished the job at Mahon t Jones' machine shop. Me noticed on his way home that his lens were feeling numb but he had no doubt of his ability to walk to bis home, which is on the outskirts of the town. When near home, however, made a misstep and fell, and when lie "" - d. rtooL to iet uu he could not get Ills leirs to do their duty. Try as he would, they would not work, and bf was finally com pelled to shout for assistance. Me came tu Somerset for the pur purpuse of attending the sale at the home of his father, two and one-half miles north of town. One f his father's employes met him at the railroad station with a sliinh. They had not proceeded on their way more than a mile until Mr. Hcftley became thoroughly clulhil, the day being bitter cold and he I icing thinly clad. Thinking to warm himself he got out of the sleigh and run along behind for some distance. Finally the driver, believing Mr. Metlley would keep up with the sleigh, drove ahead at a lively gait and did not stop un til he reached home. Mr. Mellley trudged along through the storm as hest he could and many limes thought he would have tu give up and lie down in thesnow to perish, in view of hisfather's house. Me strungle.d bravely forward, however, and at last reached the house only tu fall prustrate at the door. He was carried to a w arm room w here he soon revived. Sium-mit llvrald. Nadir AltilrOd.
