OIET'S LART'S BOOK
For Mnrch piesents some rotable attrac
tions, not the least of which is a cleverly
executed frontipi. re portraying "The
Frown. " a ctupaiiiori picture to "The
Smile." which provet to lw such a point of
tm -r it in the Januuiv L .ue. "The Frown"
is a fine steel engraving of excellent fi; 1.-!.
and art istic woi kmanhip. It presents the
usual strong features which are hnown to
characterize the illustrations appearing from
time to tin e in Godey's Ladv Book. Th
fashion plates of this magazine display more
taste and common sense than those of any
similar publication we have ever seen. The
work design this month is quite unique, and
is accompanied by an extra plate of silhou
ettes il':-trating an article in which ama-
tuers are taught to make shadow portraits.
The reading matter for March comprises
among other thines the conclusion of Helen
Mathers' story "Love Lies A Bleeding,
and the continuation of "In Her Own
Right." Next month there will begin a
charming French serial by J. V. Prltchard.
The editor considers this a very strong and
dramatic story which will be certain to cap
tivate the readers of Godey's. The table of
contents for March contains among other
rrad.iMe matter the foliowins:
'Tlie Spirit of the Desert ; a Mesmeric
Mysterv," "The Koe and te Ei!v," "Jack's
Silhouettes,"".. Trifling Misapprehension
