Williams, of Roaring Spring, Ulalr county, died on Friday last under rather singular circumstances, and a post mortem examination revealed the fact, that a flue cambric needle, which Ihe little sufferer al leged din ing her iliness she had accidentally swallowed, had lodged in her left lung, and as a consequence a pint or more of blond was found in her chest, which bad forced the lung upward and the heart, out of its position toward the right side, and had also crowded the right lung out of place and stopped the circulation of the blood in the left arm. In addition to all this, the left lung was solidi fied and gangrened. The Altoona Globe publishes a petition, with mines appended, which was recently sent to Gov. Hart run ft remonstrating against the issuing of a commission to T. H. G reery, Esq., editor of said paper and Recorder elect of Altoona, but the objections urged therein not being, as the Giohe avers, sufficient in the op'nion of Attorney General Lear to justify such action on part of the Governor-, the Republican candidate for said office, Mr. Edmund Shaw, has been induced to coolest the election of Mr. Greevy before the courts, the allegation being lhat he (Shaw) would have been chosen by more than 2(0 majority if the illegal votes cast for his opjonenf had been thrown out. Altogether it looks tons very much like a tempest in a teapot, and the probabilities are that after it is all over Mr. Greevv will still "hold the fort." A "letter from 1, M. Brown, of Sn.nmer- hiil. this county, which we publish else where, is Well worthy of Ibe most careful consideration. It relates to a subject which is engaging the attention of a very large class of people in various sections of the State, and more especially of the lalHiring class in the mining -and manufacturing districts. ;N umeroiis colonies such as Mr. Brown pro poses to form are now hf ing organized in Pittsburgh and other localities. That it is the only present bensilrte and practical meth od of bringing certain relief in the future to thousands of men who are willing to work, but who cannot obtain it. does not admit of the shadow of a doubt. Mr. Brown is a gen tleman of high character and will give prompt and necessary attention to all com munications that may be addressed to him on a subject in which he feels an interest as sincere as it is praiseworthy.
