which, as well as to the various pother rich
viands served u p on t he occision, a 11 present
did ample justice. It was indeed a well
prepared and most, enjoyable feast, ami if
evidence were needed to establish the fact
that Mr. Heist knows how o keep a hotel
ami cater to the wants of his guesss, the
"big spread" referred to, and which we are
assured did not excel !he ordinary dinners
at that well-kept house, could not fail to con

A terrific wind, rain and hail storm visited a

The damage, to crops is larce. whilo the roads
are fearfully torn up by ihe deluge of water.
On the farm of Htincuil Thomas thirty sheep
and hundreds of chickens were killed. An old
deserted farm house was thrown down and
washed into Mark's creek. A tramping ped
dler, known as "John, the Irishman," who had
tiikon reft lire in the house was drowned.
From intelligence received from the neifrhbor
ing forest country, it appears that the storm
reached. its most furious point in the moun
tains. A n u in her of men and women-, while
returning from a "Imr party" In a wsStm,
were caught, in a whirlwind about five mllca I
from M'jrrisdale. The wagon was blown over
a precipice into the puhlic roml below, some
4- feet- It was hroken into f regincnts, and one
of the horses killed, 'three ol the Inmates,
two men and one woman, received painful but

accident occurred, a large oak tree was up
