A correspondent of the American
Agriculturist pays : I wish todescribe
to vou a metho I of making fruit trees
lear that I blundered on. Some fif
tecu yearj ago I had n small apple
tree that leaned considerably. I drove
a stake beside it, tied a string to a
limb and fastened it to the stake. The
next ye.ir that limb blossomed full,
and not another blossom appeared cn

"it set me a think:ng," and I came to
the conclusion that the string w.is so
tight that it prevented the sap return
ing to the roots; consequenIy.it
