found quite a flock busily engaged in
a twelve-acre lot Velonring to him.

traps, such as are used in catching

along a few kernels of corn. Not
long after he heard a hubbub and caw
ing in the field loud enough to waken

fence nnd trees near by Were nearly
black witli crows. Ife didn't trouble
them for a couple of hours, though
they did him bv their continual noise,
after which lie xeleascd the two caught
in the traps. Since that time the
crows have given that field a wide '
berth, not having been seen in the ini

It is very geneially supposed tbat in the
dnyft of tbe American revolution the colo
nics were, with inconsiderable exceptions,
all English. This was true to a great ex
tent of Virginia and othei southern states.
But it appears that New England itself
contained a large clement of Iiish. We
have iccent'y referred to the statement of
the Irih World that a large body of Xcw
Eugland militia, that from New Hampshire,
at th battle of I'unkcr Hill, was Iiish.
The Chicago Tribune took exception to this
statement of tho Irish World, and said there
was no record of any extensive emigration
of Irishmen to New Hampshire before the
revolution. Tho Irith World shows that
there ia such a record ; recall the settle
merit of Londonderry in 1710 by a colony
from Londonderry, Ireland, the sons of i
which colonists largely made np the ctgbt
hundred New Hampshire troops that
fought at Hunker Hill under Stark and
lteid, both born of Irish parents ; and then
reminds Americans that it is an error to
think that Irish emigration, dates only from
tbe famine of 1813. The great tide of em
igration to this country, the World declares,
has always been the Irish. The (Jcrmans

; snake. The Indians immediately open
